Stony Brook, NY (MorichesDaily) – Suffolk County police and the Stony Brook University Campus Police are seeking the public’s help to find who robbed students walking on campus during two separate incidents.
According to police, on September 1st at about 10:20 p.m., a student was walking along the bike path next to the athletic fields when he was approached by two or three men, one of whom displayed a knife and stole the victim’s cell phone and wallet.
The student described the man with the knife as white male, about 20 years old and wearing a dark hooded-sweatshirt. The suspects fled on foot to the area of the LIRR commuter parking lot.
Then again on September 3rd at approximately 12:50 a.m., three students were walking near the bike path next to the athletic fields when they were approached by two white men who were wearing ski masks.
Police say that one of the men produced what appeared to be an Airsoft gun and demanded money from the victims.
The suspects fled with no proceeds toward Circle Road, according to police.
One male was described as between 18 and 21 years old, approximately 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with light-colored eyes. The other male was described as between 18 and 21 years, approximately 6 feet 1 inch to 6 feet 3 inches tall and wearing goggles that may have had a camera attached.
A $5,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
