Stony Brook, NY (MorichesDaily) – Officers from Suffolk County police emergency services and arson units, and Brookhaven Town’s Public Safety Department were investigating a device found in Stony Brook Sunday.

Police say a jogger spotted what he thought was some kind of explosive device.

But an officer at the scene just after 2 p.m. said the supposed device was nothing more than a section of plastic pipe.

Police have destroyed without incident according to officials at the scene.

Sycamore Drive was closed from 1:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., a police spokeswoman said.
