Roosevelt, NY (MorichesDaily) – Nassau County police say they arrested a Freeport man after he attempted to break into an occupied home in Roosevelt on Saturday afternoon.
Police said Michael Brown, 39, tried to break down the door of a Fulton Avenue home using a pitchfork around 3:45 p.m.
A 58-year-old woman was home at the time and called police. The woman was not injured and she told police that she knew Brown.
Police say they found Brown in riding in the area on a bicycle and arrested him.
He was found with marijuana in his possession, and the bicycle on which he had ridden was previously reported stolen earlier that day, Nassau County police said.
Police said they also found the pitchfork.
Brown is charged with second-degree attempted burglary, unlawful possession of marijuana and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
He is scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
