LINDENHURST, NY (MorichesDaily) — Suffolk County Police arrested a Lindenhurst dentist Monday afternoon and charged him with reckless endangerment after it was determined he was “under the influence of alcohol.”
Robert B. Garelick, 57, of 26 Cottontail Rd., Melville, was arrested at his office at 152 N. Wellwood Ave. at 4:30 p.m. on a charge of second-degree reckless endangerment. He faces arraignment Tuesday morning in First District Court in Central Islip.
Suffolk County police said First Precinct officers, responding to a complaint, arrested Garelick. Police said the complainant called to say the dentist “appeared to be intoxicated” and that the responding officers found him intoxicated.
“It was determined,” police said in a news release on Tuesday, “that Robert B. Garelick, 57, was under the influence of alcohol while performing dental work on a patient.”
It was not clear what type of procedure Garelick was performing when he was arrested, and the identity of the patient was not released by police.
Police said Garelick is licensed to practice dentistry in New York, though it was not immediately clear if he faces any disciplinary action in addition to the criminal action.
