Multiple Cops Shot During Separate Incidents in New York City Thursday

NEW YORK, N.Y. (MorichesDaily) — According to reports, at least three police officers have been shot in two separate incidents in New York City Thursday evening.

Details are sketchy but at least two officers were apparently shot inside the Fort Hamilton Parkway subway station at 62 Street in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

A police officer was shot and a second was grazed by a bullet on the subway Thursday evening, law enforcement sources say.

An on-duty officer assigned to the transit division was shot in the leg by a suspect while on the platform of the Fort Hamilton Parkway stop in Dyker Heights served by the N line, according to law enforcement officials.

A second officer was grazed during the shooting. Both cops were in plain clothes.

According to sources, the officers had stopped the suspect on a train and exited with him at the Fort Hamilton Parkway stop after he was caught walking between subway cars.

At some point, the suspect pulled out a gun and opened fire on the officers, the sources said.

The suspect was killed at the scene, sources said.

One officer that was shot in the leg and was rushed to Lutheran Medical Center. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

In a separate incident earlier Thursday, an off-duty police officer was shot in the Bronx, according to reports.

The off-duty police officer was shot in the leg when a group of robbers attempted to rob his family’s business in the Bronx, law enforcement sources say.

The officer was at his family’s auto body shop, Boston Auto Mall, at 3040 Boston Rd. in Williamsbridge when three men walked into the business, officials said. The robbers ordered the officer and an employee to the ground, holding guns to their heads.

Two of the men went inside and forced the owner and the off-duty cop to the ground while they ransacked the dealership, a source said.

Shots were fired, with the officer being shot in the arm and leg while attempting to disarming one gunman.

The officer was taken to Jacobi Medical Center and is expected to be OK.

He managed to call in a description of the suspects while he was wounded, sources said. Police swarmed the area in response and closed nearby roads as they searched for the suspects.

Investigators recovered a gun near the scene, and eventually four suspects were taken into custody.
