AMITYVILLE, NY (MorichesDaily) — Police have arrested an Amityville man in connection with the death of a 4-year-old boy inside his home earlier this week.
Police say Jonathan Thompson, 31, lives in the same Amityville house where the boy, Adonis Reed, was found unresponsive Wednesday.
Investigators say Reed’s body showed signs of assault.
Sources say Thompson was dating the boy’s godmother.
Jonathan Thompson, 31, stands charged with second-degree murder in the death of the little boy, Adonis Reed. He was arrested and charged Friday night.
As of early Saturday morning, Thompson was being held at the Suffolk County Police First Precinct in West Babylon, and was set to make a court appearance later in the morning.
Thompson’s home address is the same as the apartment at 89 Ketcham Ave. where the boy was found dead.
Following an anonymous 911 call on Wednesday, Adonis was found alone, unconscious and beaten inside the apartment in the rented Amityville home.
Suffolk cops confirmed that the boy was a victim of violence.
Meanwhile, neighbors have left stuffed teddy bears, candles, and wreaths on the front porch of the home.
Adonis’ 6-year-old sister was placed with Suffolk County Child Protective Services, and authorities with the agency held an emergency hearing with their 21-year-old biological mother.
The mother was not living with her children at the time of Adonis’ death.
