Police say the male victim called 911 himself to say he'd been robbed and shot in the chest.
EAST MORICHES, N.Y. (MorichesDaily) – Suffolk County Police responded to a call of a man shot in the chest on Inlet View Path in East Moriches around 3pm December 18th, 2012.
Police say the victim called 911 himself and claimed he had been robbed and then shot in the chest.
At the time of the incident Suffolk police were searching for a suspect who may have shot the teen at a home on Inlet View Path in East Moriches.
The 17-year-old male victim, who has not been identified, was shot outside of the home, according to police.
Police initially had information that it was a robbery attempt, but shortly afterwards police released a statement and said it is not clear what happened.
“After a thorough investigation, the case has been determined to be noncriminal,” the statement said. “We are not looking for a suspect, and we do not believe there was a robbery involved. The exact nature of how the victim received the wound is under investigation by the Seventh Squad detectives.”
No further details about the victims condition have been released and police have not released additional details about the incident to the press.
