Police Officer Crashes Cruiser in the Village of Babylon

The incident happened on West Main Street.

BABYLON, NY (MorichesDaily) — Authorities from the Suffolk County Police say a police officer was involved crash in the Village of Babylon this morning.

Suffolk County Police say the officer was responding to a fight outside of Mary Carroll’s Bar and Beer Garden on Deer Park Avenue at 1:34 a.m. when he crashed his vehicle on Main Street east of Route 109 in Babylon Village, police said.

The officer suffered only minor injuries in the accident, and the two people involved in the fight were arrested and charged.

The officer was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of minor injuries.

Anthony Melhado, 22, of West Babylon, and Sean Melow, 21, of Babylon, were both charged with disorderly conduct, police said.

Police have not released additional details about the crash.
